CASA CASTAGNA
Casa Castagna is situated in the historical centre of the village and is ideally placed to allow you to soak up the local culture. The house reached by its own private set of steps and has its own small terrace just outside. The traditional kitchen is equipped with a fridge-freezer, double electric hob, microwave oven and electric kettle. There is a washing machine so you can pack light and avoid baggage charges. |

| Keeping the house shutters closed during the summer days helps to maintain a cool refuge from the heat and there is also an electric fan. The easy to use modern wood stove and heaters in all rooms keep everything cosy in winter. | ||||

| The southwest-facing lounge has comfortable cane furniture as well as a double ‘prontoletto’ - sofa bed. There is also a single bed which folds out from the bookcase. This means that the house can sleep five people. | ||||

| Upstairs, the spacious double bedroom has a very comfortable king size bed and ample space for your holiday clothes. From the window you can enjoy the spectacular views across the valley. The bathroom has a loo, basin, and newly installed shower cubicle. | ||||

The secluded terrace is an ideal place to sit and enjoy the afternoon sun or an evening glass of wine. Parking is in the piazza just outside the house. |  |

The secret courtyard garden behind the house offers a shady and secluded seating area as well as being the perfect place for an evening barbecue. |

You will find the neighbours very friendly. Several of them speak English and guests are often presented with gifts of vegetables and wine. Underneath the house is Mimmo and Franca's bar which is a good place to meet the locals and enjoy your morning cappucino. | GETTING TO ROCCACASALE | ||||
Pescara is a small friendly airport and currently has several flights a week to and from London Stansted. Hire cars are available from within the airport compound. Then it is just a forty-minute drive along the modern and uncrowded A25 motorway through stunning mountain scenery to reach Roccacasale. Alternatively Rome Ciampino airport has three flights a day from London Stansted as well as other UK airports. Again hire cars are available within a short walk or bus ride. The drive to Roccacasale takes about one hour forty minutes. We will supply you with detailed maps and instructions of how to get from the airports right to the door of Casa Castagna. If you would rather travel by train, it is possible, in which case we can arrange for you to be met at Sulmona station. However we do advise that hiring a car makes getting about much easier and again we can help you with this. |
